From Loss, Sisters-in-laws Create Women’s Expo
to Benefit Children’s Leukemia
Foundation of Michigan
DEARBORN, Mich – In these challenging times, it’s nice to hear when good things are happening.
The annual Dearborn Women's Expo at the Ford Community &
Performing Arts Center in Dearborn coming on Sunday, March 6th, 2011 has a special meaning for the Dearborn women
who created the event. Now in its 8th year, the Expo raises funds for Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan
(CLF) and is dedicated to the memory of Brittany Crawford who was a
student at Dearborn High when she lost her battle with leukemia in
December 2002. The event creators, Janeen and Julie Sullivan, are
sisters-in-laws and the mother and aunt of Brittany, who together
organize an event that attracts 100+ exhibitors and 2,500 attendees.
According
to Julie Sullivan, the Expo was created by their family as a way for
women to come out, have some fun, enjoy some pampering and see a
variety of local business services and products. This winter has been
tough in more ways than one. The Expo was also created to raise funds
to help other teens who are battling leukemia and to give back to an
organization that supported Brittany and their family through the tough
times, when they needed it the most. In 2009, the organization's efforts
raised more than $10,500 for CLF.
With 100+ unique exhibits ranging from health and beauty to home improvement, accessories and meal preparation, silent auction items, raffles, fashion shows, ZUMBA fitness sessions for all levels, and a wedding and prom fashion show by One Stop Wedding Shop, the event promises something for every age and interest. Admission is $3 and children under age 12 are admitted free.
Parking is free. For information about the Expo

Children’s
